If you’ve asked yourself this question before, then you’re in the right place.
In this post, I’m going to walk through 5 different ways that you can start making money online. Depending on where your interests and skills lie, some of these strategies might be a better fit for you than others. However, most of these tactics will require hard work and dedication – like anything worth doing in life! Some of these strategies will take time to come to fruition while others might be more cash-flow positive from the very beginning.
Create a blog
A great way to make money online is to start a blog. All you have to do is find a topic that you are passionate about and start writing. You can write about anything on your blog, from cooking, traveling or personal development. Once you’ve decided what your blog will be about, it’s time to get started! Create a website platform (aka “blog”), choose a design and figure out how to monetize it. After promoting your content for some time, you will start making money!
Make Money From Ads
- Google AdSense: A contextual advertising program that allows you to place ads on your website. When visitors click on these ads, you earn money. You don’t have to do anything else, just let the program run in the background and collect your earnings.
Start an online store
If you’re interested in starting an online store, there are a few things you’ll need to do:
- Set up your website. You need a domain and a website host. If this all sounds foreign to you, check out these articles on Shopify or WordPress to learn more.
- Decide what your niche is going to be. This is the easy part—think of something you love! Are you really into dogs? Start an online store that sells dog toys and accessories. Do you knit? Sell scarves and hats on your own e-commerce site! Both of these examples have been done before, but because there are so many people out there who enjoy dogs and knitting, it’s not hard to find customers for these products. Before settling on your niche, try doing some quick Google research (or even just typing some words into the Google search bar) to see if anyone has already established a successful business around what you want to sell. Don’t let this discourage you—there are plenty of ways for any new brand to carve out its own unique identity in even the most saturated marketplaces (i.e., Amazon), especially if it provides great customer service and innovative products/services at competitive prices.
Start Freelancing Work
If you already have a set of skills or think you can quickly learn them, freelancing is another option. There are tons of websites where people post jobs that need to be done, usually from home. You can sign up for one of the sites and start applying for jobs immediately – often, the work can be done in your spare time.
This could mean anything from transcribing audio files to data entry to writing code or even simple tasks like data processing and research. The possibilities are endless and all depend on what skills you have!
The most popular website for this type of work is Upwork. To get started, all you need is an account on Upwork and some sample work to show clients (if you don’t have any samples yet, consider creating some). Once your account is set up, head over to the job board and start applying for relevant jobs.
